This initiative is designed to empower students with the skills and experience needed for a successful career in product management. In today’s fast-paced tech environment, effective product management is crucial for transforming innovative ideas into market-ready solutions. Background

Product management is a vital discipline that bridges the gap between technical teams and market needs. It involves overseeing a product's lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring that it meets user expectations and achieves business objectives.

At UC Davis, there is a growing need for students to engage in product management experiences that reflect real-world challenges.

The CodeLab Product Program offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the product development lifecycle over one academic year. Through this hands-on experience, participants will gain invaluable insights into market analysis, user research, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

What is the Codelab Product Program?

The CodeLab Product Program is a cohort designed for students eager to think creatively and work collaboratively on a product from conception to completion. Participants will work in teams, guided by experienced mentors, to develop innovative solutions that address real-world problems.

Key Details:

Team Size: Each team will consist of a diverse mix of 1 product manager, 3/4 developers, and 3/4 designers.
Duration: The program runs for one academic year, allowing ample time for thorough project development.
Mentorship: Teams will have access to experienced Software and design education mentors who provide guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Resources: Participants will have access to tools and resources necessary for product development, including design software, project management tools, and market research databases.
Phases: The project will be divided into key phases: brainstorming, planning, development, testing, and launch. </aside>

What We Are Looking For:

Product Managers: Strong leadership skills, experience in managing projects, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
Designers: Creativity, proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe), and a solid understanding of user experience principles.
Developers: Strong coding skills (e.g., JavaScript, Python), familiarity with software development methodologies, and a collaborative mindset. </aside>

Prerequisites:

Experience Level: We prefer candidates with at least one year of relevant experience in product management, design, or development.
